Richard Reardon
Richard Reardon BVetMed(hons) MVM PhD CertES(Orth) DipECVS(LA) DipEVDC(EQ) MRCVS
Richard qualified from the Royal Veterinary College in 2004 and worked in mixed practice before undertaking an equine internship in Newbury. He then did a surgery residency followed by a PhD at the University of Glasgow, after which he moved to the University of Edinburgh in 2012. At Edinburgh Richard expanded his enjoyment of equine dentistry while running the dental and soft tissue surgery services, initially with Professor Dixon, then latterly on his own. In 2018 Richard obtained his diploma from the European College of Veterinary Dentistry and has actively been involved with the college and in training residents since then. Richard enjoys the challenges of equine dentistry and surgery, in particular the ability to help treat painful conditions. He also enjoys research related to equine dentistry and surgery and has numerous publications in the field, with research ongoing. Richard has presented internationally and continues to enjoy teaching on practical courses. Richard joined the Equine Dental Clinic in April 2022; based in Edinburgh he runs the Scotland and North of England referral service in advanced dentistry for EDC.
