Bill Ribbans
Professor Bill Ribbans, Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon and Professor of Sports Medicine
Bill has been involved medically with sport since 1981 as a surgeon, sports physician, educator, and researcher. His patients have included world champions in eight different sports and athletes with multiple Olympic and Paralympic medals. He retired from surgery in 2022 but maintains a busy clinical presence in out-patients and working with multiple sports teams and colleagues. His research interests include ethics within sport, injury surveillance and the genetics of injuries. His books, ‘Knife in the Fast Lane’ and ‘A Plague on all our Sports’, outline his concerns about modern sport and duties of care.
